My post last week was a little blue. A little “motherhood ain’t so pretty”.
This week has been a bit bananas, but Mark’s schedule has been delightfully manageable for once and he’s been able to swoop in and help a lot with the girls. It makes me want him to be a stay-at-home dad just a bit, if I’m being honest. My routine is on auto-pilot so much so that I actually went the wrong way coming home on Wednesday because I forgot he’d already picked up the girls from daycare. Oops.
As you may already know, I work from home on Fridays, albeit not a full day. I typically get up and at’em extra early and get logged in before anyone else is at work and I pray the kids sleep in just a bit. This morning they actually did so. Mind you, sleeping is 6:30am for Piper and 7am for Shea.
Piper took an hour long morning nap while Shea self-occupied and then at 1pm, the most incredible thing happened – both girls went down for a nap! It’s going on 3pm an they’re still sleeping. THERE IS A GOD!
Do you know how much I can get done in 2 hours?
…A lot of work emails.
…A load of laundry.
…A sink full of dirty bottles.
…Unloading a dishwasher full of dishes.
…A workout.
…A shower.
…Most of a blog post.
I’m feeling a bit like a super hero, honestly.
This morning was also exciting because I finally hired “a mother’s helper”…even though I have no idea what that actually means. I was looking for someone to really be an extension of me – someone to beat me home, let out the dog, start dinner prep, tidy up a bit, assist with the girls, pick-up my CSA box, etc. I don’t really KNOW what I want and I think it will vary from day-to-day, but today, I hired Brii and she starts Monday. I really, really, really, really hope it works out.
Brii actually said I’m ORGANIZED – Mark will die of laughter when I tell him that one. Shea immediately took to her and even hugged her when she left. I have good vibes and is now when I go knock on wood?
Other than winter temps being back, life is good today!
Happy weekend!
Be well,
