As you guys know I love natural beauty products, I think it’s so important to nourish your secret with beautiful ingredients and so I only ever use ‘hippy’ make up, moisturisers, hair products etc. I’ve done a lot of research into the area and played around with products from so many different brands. There are a few brands that I think stand out, both for the quality of the product and the ingredients it uses, and one of them is RMS Beauty. It’s my favourite brand for natural make up, I use their bronzer, blusher, highlighter and mascara most days, so I tracked down the founder for an interview as I thought it would be awesome to learn more about natural beauty from her, so over to Rose Marie.
Tell Us the Secrets of Natural Beauty…
Why is natural make up and skin care so important?
Why wouldn’t it be? Who wants chemicals, synthetics, GMO’s and nano particles all over their face. This is a controversy I will never understand as the beauty industry is becoming a genetic freak show. Women all want so badly a quick fix pill that they will accept all these hopes and promises that can jeopardize their health long term.
What are the benefits for your skin of using natural make up?
Technology can be amazing: the way science can create something from nothing, or change something natural into a chemical version so they act differently than they would in Nature. The cosmetic industry uses ingredients that are all derivatives and have been adulterated/fractionated so they basically end up being a man-made chemical. Problems can happen, however, when technology is applied to skin care and makeup. One’s body and skin has intrinsic healing mechanisms, which are supported by a natural lifestyle and living food. Instead of activating these intrinsic healing mechanisms, the purpose of the cosmetic ingredients is to replace these healing mechanisms – with technology. This might have a chance of working if our skin and body were mere machines but unfortunately for the designers, our body and skin are living organisms that naturally require the infusion of life forces to maintain their intrinsic integrity. Natural and organic products use pure ingredients from mother earth and these ingredients work synergistically with the skin…..full healing energy where most cosmetic products are dead ingredients.
How do you get beautiful, glowing skin?
We shouldn’t expect make-up to ‘make up’ for other diet and lifestyle choices. We need to be sure to eat plenty of raw, organic fruits and vegetables; to drink plenty of filtered water; to get regular exercise and to be sure to get enough rest. You skin is a mirror to your GUT and what we put into our bodies is reflected in the condition of our health and our skin so it is unreasonable to think that cosmetics can correct all of our unhealthy choices. And then, of course,. It’s circular. The two go hand in hand.
Are there particular ingredients you use that nourish the skin?
My line is actually based on Raw Coconut Oil and that is the star ingredient. Coconut oil is a miracle oil and one of the healthiest oils in the world, if not the healthiest. It has natural antifungal and antibacterial properties due to its lauric acid (also found in human breast milk) and caprylic acid content, which aids in healing the skin naturally. It is a known natural antioxidant that helps prevent free radical damage (premature aging) and contains high levels of natural vitamins. When it is in its raw state, it is hands down the best oil out there. It is great for all types of skin and helps to heal acne prone skin, skin irritations and keeps the skin youthful. Jojoba oil on the other hand is an oil that is closest to human sebum (skin), is easily absorbed, soothing and can provide excellent moisture throughout the day. Full of natural vitamins, enzymes and has anti-inflammatory aspects this oil was also a must-have ingredient. My full list can be read here.
What are your favourite foods for beauty?
Any foods in their raw form as well as healthy healing oils taken internally such as coconut oil (not just any kind as there are many different processing techniques that detriment the healing properties), essential fatty acids (such as fish oil and flax oil.) These are healing oils that body needs oil has received a bad rap and healthy oils always are amazing for the body
Tell Us a Little More About RMS…
Why did you start it?
I became an advocate for cleaner cosmetics started when my own health deteriorated years ago, and through my research I discovered that many of the chemicals in my body were also rampant in beauty products. I started studying ingredient labels and learned the extent of unregulated chemical ingredient use. In fact, many ingredients use in beauty and body products are downright harmful.
Having worked so long in the beauty industry, I’ve seen the results of taking a quick-fix approach to looking good and know first-hand the price our health can pay in the pursuit of beauty. I realized that what women need is skin care, color cosmetics and toiletries that are as pure as possible – lines that create a solid foundation for anti-aging and long-term beauty. We now know that what we put on the skin can be absorbed and in some circumstances, it’s absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Why are we taking chances with this?
I realized I had to create something that breaks away from traditional cosmetics on the market as well as the pack of so-called natural cosmetics that are already available. I founded RMS Beauty a few years ago and formulate my products with raw, food grade and organic ingredients in their natural state, allowing their living, healing attributes to penetrate and rejuvenate the skin. In their purest form, the healing properties of natural enzymes, vitamins and antioxidants remain fully intact, encouraging amazing potential for anti-aging effects.
What makes RMS unique?
First of all it is not another powdered mineral line. This is where RMS Beauty breaks away from the pack of natural cosmetics. RMS Beauty products are in a cream base and are formulated with raw, food grade and organic ingredients in their natural state, allowing their living, healing attributes to penetrate and rejuvenate the skin. In their purest form, enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants and their healing properties remain fully intact, encouraging amazing potential for anti-aging effects. RMS Beauty has also taken extreme care in the use of minimal heat in the manufacturing process of ingredients and the final product in order to keep all nutrients and healing properties alive as much as possible. All RMS Beauty products are free of harmful chemicals, synthetic preservatives, synthetic vitamins, nano particles and genetically altered ingredients (GMO) etc. I personally order all ingredients so as not to jeopardize quality. RMS Beauty is full of healing nutrients – nutrients that work synergistically with the skin, and are in harmony with nature and our environment. Each ingredient in RMS Beauty is carefully chosen to create a dialogue with the skin. Your touch activates the life force of the product, and nutrients interact with skin to promote hydration, softness, and luminosity.
