How far along? 17 weeks, 3 days
How big is the baby? The size of an onion – about 5 inches and 6 ounces
Total weight gain/loss? No gain, no loss.
Maternity clothes? More just comfy stuff like leggings – I justify wearing them to work with cute shoes and a cute top. Fortunately, my workplace is fairly casual. I did wear dress pants 2x this past week and while everything still buttons just fine, they’re not comfortable once I sit down.
Sleep? My FitBit says I’m sleeping plenty, but my sleep has become a series of naps. Between the baby waking at times (she’s sick…again) and the more frequent bathroom breaks, coupled with the fact that I’m having trouble falling back asleep after 5am, I don’t feel my sleep is as restful as I’d like. I am most certainly enjoying my snoogle, though!
Best moment this week? Baby movement – never gets old.
Symptoms? Some back pain has started, especially after longer/harder workouts. I am still jogging some, but my body has started to rebel a bit and I’ve been doing more walking than jogging. Otherwise, food can be a little hit or miss with what sounds good, but I have honestly had such smooth sailing, there is not one thing I can complain about!
Food cravings? Still sandwiches (Subway, Jimmy Johns…any sandwich), soup. I can add to the list chocolate milk and chocolate, but I’ve backed off on both of those. I did buy chocolate milk 2 weeks in a row at the grocery store and having NEVER in my life purchased chocolate milk, that was weird.
Food aversions? I do not have any real “aversions” but I’m finding that I get caught up on weird food things. The other night, I blended a bay leaf into the soup (oops!) and I had this huge hang-up on the darn bay leaf. You couldn’t taste it or see it or notice any difference in texture, but just knowing I’d done that put me off a little. I literally had to think about other ingredients in the soup to get myself to actually eat it. Dumb. Then the other night I made a salmon taco-like meal and the peppers and onions had cooled off some and so the warm salmon with the not-so-hot peppers and onions + the cold mango salsa was just weird to me. I’m normally all good with fun combinations of temperatures and what not, but I struggled with that one, too.
Gender? Girl! I just pulled out the bin of newborn and 0-3 month clothes from storage to start getting organized.
Belly button in or out? Very in. Never popped with Shea and so I doubt it will this time.
What I miss? Beer! There’s several new microbreweries opening near us this spring and I wish I could enjoy!
What I’m looking forward to? Getting started on the nursery – rather than an empty room to start with, we’re going to have to sell/give away a bed, bedside table, and bookshelf, and clean out a closet. But I think I’m settled on pastel coral and teal for the room. I’m buying a crib and changing table from a mom in my mom’s group, too.
Milestones? Anxious for the anatomy scan in a few short week!
Bump? Yes! People have begun noticing that my little bump left behind from Shea is growing. I think certain outfits make me look much more pregnant than others, but those who know I’m pregnant are certainly commenting. It is certainly true that you pop earlier after your first!
Be well,
